One of 100 copies set in Cochin type, printed on Arches Creme mould-made paper and signed by the author/artist upon the colophon. 40 pochoir illustrations. Cream stencilled paper-covered boards, with wraparound printed in yellow. Cream paper-covered slipcase. A fine copy.
Peter Allen retraced the route that Robert Louis Stevenson described in his 'Travels with a Donkey' well over a hundred years ago. His diary extracts and vividly coloured pochoir illustrationss, bring to life the character of this area of southern France. Most of the illustrations consist of four or so watercolours stencilled by Allen himself on a simple keyline base, printed from a linocut. Each illustration is therefore an original, and no two copies can be exactly the same.
