The Story of how Amnon ravished his sister Thamar for which Absalom killed him as it is written in the Second Book of Kings. Crown 16mo, 130 X 92mm, drophead title, pp, Printed by Rene Hague & Eric Gill at Pigotts, Speen, Bucks, 1930.
One of 225 copies printed in 8-point Baskerville type on Batchelor hand-made paper specially watermarked 'ER'. Wood-engraved frontispiece by Eric Gill. Sewn into overlapping blue paper wrappers, untitled. A near fine copy.
This little booklet was never published, a few copies being distributed privately at the time and then subsequently at a Double Crown Club dinner at which Rene Hague was the speaker. It was the first item to be printed on the hand press at Eric Gill's home, Pigott's, as is signified by the numeral '1' that that appears after the imprint.
