Sheffield Vignettes: A Series of Sonnets, by William Dowsing. [Part reprinted from a book originally printed by J.W. Northend in 1910.] Crown 4to, 27cm, p, (Keith Stubley, Printer, Crosspool) 2002.
Handset in Garamond types, and printed on a Vandercook proofing press on Basingwerk Parchment. 9 drawings in reddish-brown by Ian Wright reproduced by line-block. Number 62 of 80 copies signed by the printer and illustrator. Sewn into overlapping orange paper wrappers with printed label superimposed. A fine copy.
Keith Stubley was a director of J.W. Northend in the mid-1990s and indeed his nephew Nigel de Lisle Stubley remains so to the present day. An attractive book, 'Sheffield Vignettes' has something of the look of an early Whittington about it.
