Selected Poems. [Preface signed: Marie Sturge Moore.] First edition, 8vo, x, 206, [1] pages, 19 cm, London: Macmillan,1934.

Blue cloth with gilt spine lettering and gilt rules. Elaborate decorations in blind to upper cover (repeated in grey on blue on the dust-jacket) by Charles Ricketts. Some slght loss to head of dust-jacket at the spine. A very good crisp copy.

With a presentation inscription, dated 26.6.41, from the author to a Mrs [Laura?] Knight " who holds like myself that heard melodies are better than those unheard". Accompanied by an undated Als (presumably same date), in which Sturge Moore discusses his love of Wordsworth and dislike of Eliot's 'Little Gidding'. As to the recipient being Dame Laura Knight, there are references to "looking forward to hearing your read at 40 Well Walk [Constable's house] and Wimbledon Art School which seem very suggestive.
