Illustrated with 17 lithographic reproductions of drawings by Edward Ardizzone. Laura Ashley patterned cloth with a rose-coloured oval title-label on the front. Rose endpapers with matching slipcase. A near fine copy.
Five ballads based on Ovid's collection of myths and legends, the Metamorphoses. Those selected for this modern retelling, with Ardizzone's dense line drawings, are Pyramus and Thisbe, Pan and Syrinx, Echo and Narcissus, Arachne and Callisto.
