The Printer's Grammar, or, Introduction to the Art of Printing: containing a concise history of the art, with the improvements in the practice of printing, for the last fifty years, by C.Stower, printer. 8vo, xviii, 505, 506*-507*, 506-530 pages, 48 unnumbered pages, plates (1 folded), 22cm, London: Printed by the Editor, for B. Crosby and Co., 1808.

Seven (of eight) inserted plates, lacking the Stanhope Press frontispiece. With an inserted leaf, numbered 506*-507*, between pages 505 and 506, and a 32-page appendix of specimens of printing types at the end. Many illustrations in the text. With an index. Modern blue buckram with printed spine label. Excellent series of type specimens from both the Caslon and Fry foundries. Title-page a bit chipped and soiled. On the whole, very good condition.

The specimens are: Fry & Steele Printer's Flowers (29 pages); Fry & Steele Printing Types (19 pages); Caslon & Catherwood Printing Types (10 pages). The book is based upon J.Smith, The Printer's Grammar, 1787.
