Handset in Goudy Bold. Number 251 of 500 copies printed on Batchelor hand-made paper. Woodcut borders throughout by Philip Hagreen and signed by him. Quarter black morocco with gilt spine titling, beige cloth sides decorated in black. Very slight yellowing to endpapers. A near ffine copy.

(Taylor & Sewell A211) An early example of Philip Hagreen cutting with the knife. 42 borders and 19 Biblical scenes are changed around throughout, so that no two pages are the same. Hagreen persuaded Peplerr to abandon his uusual Caslon in favour of Goudy Bold as a better match or the woodcuts.
